Taking to social media, Cynthia Galea, said that it is time to give children their childhood back due to them being under social media’s spell.

Galea, partner of former PN Leader Adrian Delia and current candidate for the party’s executive, said:

“I believe strongly that the time has come for young children to not have access to mobiles, laptops and other electronic devices. I want to see kids playing with other kids, with toys, with a ball, hide-and-seek, running and enjoying a playground.”

“As parents let us give an example to our children, and let us reduce the use of our phones, especially in the presence of our children.”

This appeal tracks with countries in the EU looking beyond bans to find ways to incentivise kids to put down their phones.

Sweden, according to Euronews earlier this year, ‘introduced a “leisure activity card” to partly cover the costs of organised activities such as fitness clubs or language classes.’
