A demonstration was called yesterday evening by Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg after Yorgen Fenech was found not guilty in relation to the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

After the jury gave their 8-1 verdict in favour of Fenech in the evening, Borg called for a demonstration in front of Auberge de Castille.

There, the party and demonstrators held a minute of silence for the assassinated journalist, with Borg going on to give a speech calling for calm and bipartisan unity until justice is served for Caruana Galizia’s killing.

Borg said that as the Opposition they respect the decision of the jury and thanked everyone involved in the long process, before saying that this does not mean the chapter on Daphne’s assassination is not closed here.

Pointing to Castille, he said that her assassination was devised in that building, and Malta’s institutions must get back to work to deliver justice.
