CPD Extinguishes Grass Fire in Wied Qirda, Qormi

The Civil Protection Department has successfully extinguished a grass fire in Wied Qirda, Qormi that broke out yesterday.

The fire supposedly broke out due to the excessive heat from this heatwave, paired with the valley’s dry conditions.

Firefighters from Fire Stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 8 and 11 responded to the incident, along with a medical team from Mater Dei’s Emergency Department.

After the fire was brought under control, firefighters remained on scene monitoring other hot spots and continuing their cooling efforts.

“Despite the ongoing heatwave and challenging conditions, CPD firefighters have worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control, demonstrating their commitment to protecting lives, property and the environment,” shared the department’s social media.
