He noted that the agreement is not solely about financial improvements but also about establishing clear working conditions that can guide and motivate future staff.

He emphasised the government’s ongoing commitment to investing in its workforce, ensuring that employees receive fair pay and have opportunities to progress in their careers.

Lands Authority Chief Executive Officer Robert Vella described the 2025 to 2028 collective agreement as a significant milestone in the Authority’s development.

He highlighted that the agreement is the result of extensive and constructive discussions with the GWU, centred on creating improved and modern conditions for all staff.

Vella acknowledged the dedication shown by employees in their daily work and expressed pride in their continued commitment. He added that the agreement provides well deserved recognition and appreciation for their efforts.

GWU General Secretary Josef Bugeja explained that the union had signed two collective agreements on the day, one covering professionals and another covering technical and administrative employees.

He said that workers now have greater opportunities to build on their skills and develop their careers. Bugeja added that the agreement offers a clear direction for both employees and the Authority, reinforcing the union’s commitment to a more modern, professional and equitable future.
