Clayton Bartolo Confirms He Will Be Contesting In Upcoming Election

“If you hear someone who tells you that I will be contesting in the coming election,” stated Clayton Bartolo, “The answer is yes.”

In a video recently shared to his social media, Clayton Bartolo who is currently an independent Member of Parliament, shared that he will be contesting in the upcoming general election.

As to questions about whether he will contest with Labour or as an independent, Bartolo said that he “was, is, and will always be a Labourite.”

Until November 2024, Bartolo was Minister of Tourism before being asked to resign by Prime Minister Robert Abela following a financial scandal related to his wedding in June 2024.

Earlier this year, Bartolo was cleared of allegations of conflict of interest by The Commissioner for Standards in Public Life.

It was found that he paid “normal rates” which totalled to €123,762.51 for reception and logistics at venues operated by major tourism firms regulated by his own ministry.
