CIVIL PROTECTION RESPONDS TO INDUSTRIAL FIRE AT MAGĦTAB WASTESERV PLANT

The Civil Protection Department is currently responding to an industrial fire at the Wasteserv plant in Magħtab, with emergency operations ongoing and the situation being closely monitored by the relevant authorities.

Residents in nearby areas, including Bugibba, St Paul’s Bay, Salini, and Qawra, have been advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution due to smoke and fumes in the area.

Thick black smoke was reported rising from the site and was visible from a considerable distance, with footage showing it clearly seen from the Kennedy Grove and Salina area. The blaze was first reported at around 11:35am.

Authorities have confirmed that response efforts are underway, while further updates are expected to be issued through official Civil Protection channels as the situation develops.

Members of the public have been urged to follow all instructions issued by emergency services and local authorities.
