The Christmas season has officially started in Malta’s Capital City, with over a month of festive celebrations lined up for everyone to enjoy!

On the 25th of November the Valletta Christmas Tree, designed by local artist Henry Galea, was officially illuminated. It stands at an impressive 15.6 metres in height along with a diameter of 6.5 metres and a circumference of 20 metres.

Inspired by the Maltese coin, the “Munita Christmas Tree” is adorned with over 9,000 different decorations, including lights and ornaments.

Not only is the tree stunning to look at, but it’s also a perfect representation of local talent, with 63 hand-painted ornaments crafted by Maltese artists.

Apart from gawking at the gorgeous tree, Malta’s capital city has a lot more to offer this season such as the procession with baby Jesus, concerts by local musicians, interactive activities, and the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration!
