Mellieħa celebrated a sweet achievement as local chef Andrew Farrugia, together with the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) and VisitMalta, set a new Guinness World Record for the longest chocolate train.

Measuring an impressive 55 metres, this marks Farrugia’s third Guinness World Record, highlighting both his skill and dedication.

The record was highlighted by international news & media account TRT World, broadcasting the achievement to over 3.4 million followers on social media.

“The Mayor, Councillors and staff of the Mellieħa Local Council congratulate Mellieħa chef Andrew Farrugia, who proudly represented our country together with ITS and VisitMalta by achieving his third Guinness World Record with the longest chocolate train. A proud moment for Mellieħa — well done!” stated the Council in a social media post celebrating the accomplishment.

ITS also shared their pride in this collaborative effort.

“Today marked the official unveiling and measurement of the chocolate train, and we are proud to share that Andrew Farrugia, Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Tourism Studies, has been awarded the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the World’s Longest Chocolate Sculpture," they stated.

"This achievement is the result of months of dedication, craftsmanship, and collaboration between lecturers, students, partners, and institutions in Malta and Italy,” concluded the Institute For Tourism Studies.
