Charles Mifsud Identified As Electric Shock Golden Bay Victim

The man who died after receiving an electric shock near Golden Bay on Wednesday has been identified as 41-year-old Charles Mifsud.

The accident occurred at around 12.30pm in Triq Palma while he was working on an electricity pole. He fell into a ditch following the shock and was later taken to hospital, where he died despite the efforts of rescuers and ambulance staff.

It is not yet clear what work Mifsud was carrying out or whether he was self-employed or contracted by a company.

Until a few years ago he worked as a fruit and vegetable vendor in Żebbuġ, where he was well-known and respected. Many residents expressed their condolences on social media, describing him as a true gentleman.

An inquiry is being led by Magistrate Joe Mifsud, while police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority continue investigations into the fatal accident.
