Cancer Medicine To Be Transported Between Malta & Gozo Via Drones

Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela has announced that the closing of a tender for drones that will transport cancer medicine between Malta and Gozo has been closed.

This means that Gozitan patients will be receiving medical treatment via a revolutionary step in Malta’s healthcare history and system.

Earlier this year, Minister Jo Etienne Abela announced a public call for a drone service to establish the rapid transfer.

‘“The drone service is expected to serve dozens of patients in Gozo and reduce unnecessary travel for them and their families,” the Minister hademphasised.

Using this innovative transport method, monoclonal antibody medicines will be transferred regularly, safely, and quickly, allowing more patients to receive the care they need in an expanded section of the Day Care Unit at Gozo General Hospital.
