Marsaskala is set for a major upgrade this week, as the newly regenerated Ġnien il-Fajtata officially opens to the public with a sunset-themed inauguration event titled “Għabex.”

Join the community for “Għabex,” a special event celebrating a brand-new space designed for families and children to enjoy. Taking place on Friday 8th May from 7 PM onwards at Ġnien il-Fajtata in Marsaskala, the evening marks the official opening of a vibrant community area created for relaxation, play, and togetherness. Visitors are invited to bring the whole family and experience a lively atmosphere filled with face painting, games, arts and crafts, and live music, all set within a warm and welcoming environment where children can explore freely while adults unwind and connect.

Perched along the coast, Ġnien il-Fajtata has been completely reimagined into a modern, vibrant, and inclusive open space designed for everyday use. The project goes beyond a simple facelift, offering a renewed vision of how public spaces can be enjoyed by everyone. At its core, the garden aims to be a place where people can relax, exercise, play, or simply take in the sea views.

A strong focus has been placed on accessibility, ensuring the space can be enjoyed by all members of the community. Safer, upgraded footpaths and railings further enhance the overall experience, reflecting a commitment to inclusive design.

The project also involves upgrading the public toilets and showers to improve hygiene and user comfort, alongside enhancing outdoor spaces through the upgrading of garden furniture. In addition, the existing lighting system will be replaced with a more efficient and modern solution.

Ġnien il-Fajtata also brings together multiple elements to cater to different lifestyles. Families can enjoy smart, water-themed play areas designed for various age groups, creating an interactive and colourful environment inspired by the surrounding sea. Meanwhile, the outdoor gym has been upgraded with new equipment, offering the opportunity to exercise while overlooking the coastline.

For those looking to unwind, the garden features comfortable seating and picnic areas made from recyclable, eco-friendly materials, positioned to make the most of the surrounding views and provide a calm setting by the bay.

The regeneration reflects a simple but important vision: creating a space where people can sit, relax, swim, exercise, and play, all within a setting that embraces the natural coastal charm of Marsaskala. With its official opening this Friday, Ġnien il-Fajtata is set to become a key destination in the south, offering both a peaceful retreat and a lively community hub.
