Cab Drivers Will Not Be Allowed Shifts Over 12 Hours A Day, Says Minister

Local
Minister for Sustainable Transport Chris Bonett has announced the introduction of new rules which will make sure that no y-plate cab driver is doing shifts longer than 12 hours.
Through electronic monitoring via the apps the drivers are using to render a service, they will be obliged to stop if they work more than 12 hours so as to avoid an over-tired chauffeur risking accidents.
Any one breaching this limit will be subject to heavy fines, said Minister Bonett, and repeated offences will lead to suspension of license.
This, he said, will ensure that a crucial mode of alternative transport is done safely and does not risk any lives.
