Brother Edward Galea Celebrates His 102nd Birthday

The Lasallian community is celebrating a special milestone today as Brother Edward Galea marks his 102nd birthday.

Born in Żabbar on August 16, 1924, Brother Edward has dedicated more than 75 years to education, faith and the Lasallian mission, becoming one of Malta’s most respected educators.

Throughout his career, Brother Edward has served De La Salle College as a teacher, administrator and mentor. His commitment to education has seen him teach and guide generations of students, with his influence extending across decades of Maltese families.

His legacy is unique as he has taught multiple generations, including grandfathers, fathers and their sons, creating a connection with families who passed through the college.

Brother Edward’s contribution to education and the Lasallian community was formally recognised in 2022, when he was awarded the Medal for Service to the Republic for his dedication to De La Salle College.

At 102, Brother Edward continues to represent the Lasallian spirit: faith, humility, service and a deep commitment to young people.

Today, students, staff, former students, Brothers and the wider Lasallian family come together to wish him a happy birthday and thank him for inspiring generations.
