Brazilian esports organisation Imperial Esports has officially inaugurated its European headquarters and training facility in St Julian’s, further strengthening Malta’s growing reputation as a hub for esports and digital entertainment.

The new 180-square metre facility, located in one of the island’s busiest commercial districts, will serve as a high-performance base for team training, content creation, live broadcasts, competitive management, and pre-tournament preparation. Best known for its Counter-Strike team, Imperial Esports said the studio will also support international tournament logistics, including events in Asia, while offering space for bootcamps and preparation by other teams and organisations.

The facility is also expected to host local tournaments and collaborate with the Malta eSports Association.

Speaking during the launch, Economy Minister Silvio Schembri described the investment as “a vote of confidence” in Malta’s vision for the esports industry. He said the sector offers “real, high-value careers” for young Maltese workers and forms part of the Government’s Malta Vision 2050 strategy.

Ivan Filletti, CEO of GamingMalta, said Imperial’s arrival demonstrates how Malta is extending its success in gaming into esports and immersive entertainment.

Imperial Esports COO Ricardo Bonetti added that Malta was chosen because of its strong connectivity, expanding esports ecosystem, and support for global operations.
