Birżebbuġa Sailing Club achieved outstanding results at the ILCA Balatonfüred Europa Cup in Hungary, with Maltese sailors returning home with three podium finishes.

The event saw strong performances from the young team, who continue to showcase the growing strength of Maltese sailing on the European stage.

Isaac Azzopardi secured a silver medal in the Under-16 category and went on to claim bronze overall in the ILCA 4 class, a remarkable achievement against tough international competition.

Meanwhile, Emily Fenech delivered an excellent performance to win silver among female competitors in the same class. Both Isaac and Emily, who began their sailing careers in the Optimist class, continue to develop through the training and support provided by Birżebbuġa Sailing Club.

The squad was guided by Coach Mario Aquilina, two-time Olympian and Club Commodore, together with Team Leader Jason Spiteri. Fellow team members Jacob Azzopardi, Krista Spiteri, and Lacey Aquilina also put in commendable performances that added to the club’s success.

Thanks were extended to all sponsors, the Malta Sailing Federation, the Maltese Olympic Committee, and BeActive SportMalta for their continued support in giving young sailors the opportunity to compete internationally. These results confirm the bright future of Maltese sailing.
