Former Opposition Leader Bernard Grech has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of his dear friend, Joe Mercieca, describing him as “a loyal and strong man” who was always ready with sincere advice and a kind word.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Dr Grech wrote that Joe was “always there for you, whether at the office, at home, or even in hospital.” He recalled visiting him just two days before his passing, assuring his friend that he would always remain “a pillar for all of us.”

“Now you suffer no more, Joe,” Grech wrote. “Rest in peace, my friend.”

Joe Mercieca is remembered fondly by those who knew him as a man of integrity, warmth, and quiet strength someone who always made time for others and whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone around him.
