The Nationalist Party (PN) is set to elect a new leader today, following Bernard Grech’s resignation in June. Grech, who led the party since 2020, stepped down after the PN’s performance in recent elections.

Speaking at his farewell, Grech said that the strength of the PN lies in what can be achieved together, not by one person alone, and that the leadership campaign has reinforced this belief. He compared the process to a relay race, noting that “it is not just the athlete who finishes the race who wins, but the whole team that contributed to the victory.”

Grech added that while the party will soon have a new leader, the PN itself remains united. He stressed that the realities and challenges facing the Maltese people have not changed, and that it is the responsibility of the new leader to continue building on the party’s efforts so it can govern effectively and deliver for the people.

Concluding, Grech said that a future PN victory in the next election would be a victory for all Maltese and Gozitans.
