Benna Denies Claims of Profit Margin Reductions Following Price Changes
Local

Benna has addressed a recent social media post suggesting that shop owners’ profit margins were reduced following price revisions.

After an internal review, the Company confirmed that the author of the post is not a direct client of Benna, but a client of an independent distributor. Benna operates through a network of self-employed, independent distributors who purchase products directly from the Company and then resell them to their own clients, including mini-markets and retail outlets.

The Company emphasised that this long-established distribution model is fully compliant with Maltese competition law, specifically the Competition Act (Chapter 379 of the Laws of Malta), which governs fair competition and prohibits practices such as price fixing or imposing resale prices. Distributors operate independently and set their own commercial terms with their clients.

Benna categorically stated that the claims circulating on social media are unfounded. The Company has never reduced shop owners’ profit margins as a result of price adjustments and conducts its business transparently, fairly, and responsibly, in the best interest of all customers, regardless of their size.

Shop owners who believe they have been affected are encouraged to contact Malta Dairy Products directly so the matter can be properly reviewed and addressed.

Benna reaffirmed its commitment to open dialogue, transparency, and protecting both consumers and retailers within the framework of Maltese law.
