Beaches In Malta Will Now Be Patrolled

Local
As of today, beaches in Malta will officially be patrolled by Community Officers, a subset of LESA.
These patrols are aimed at keeping Maltese beaches safe this summer now that peak tourism season is here.
Additionally, smoking has officially been outlawed at Golden Bay in Malta, and Ramla l-Ħamra Gozo, as of January 2026.
Community officers, along with other officials, will enforce this ban, issuing fines of up to €150 if the law is broken.
Minister for Home Affairs Glenn Bedingfield took to social media to announce that the patrols are set to begin today.
