BCRS Launches Home Bottle Collection Service for Over-60s and Blue Badge Holders

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness Glenn Bedingfield announced that over 500,000 plastic bottles have been recycled.

A new mobile bottle collection service, BCRS Home 60+, is being rolled out in Malta to make it easier for residents aged 60 and above to return bottles for the Beverage Container Refund Scheme (BCRS).

The initiative also extends to Blue Badge holders, regardless of age, ensuring that those with mobility challenges can take part without needing to visit a BCRS machine. Collections are available in specific localities and are arranged by appointment.

Residents can book a collection by calling the dedicated helpline at 9909 9955 or by visiting the Servizz.gov website. The scheme aims to simplify the process for vulnerable groups while promoting recycling across the island.

Prime Minister Robert Abela has emphasised the government’s commitment to making environmental initiatives more accessible, particularly for those who may face difficulty using standard collection points.
