BCA and OHSA Urge Workers To Proceed With Caution Following Yellow Weather Warning

The Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) have issued safety warnings in light of the Yellow Weather Warning currently in force, which is expected to bring strong winds.
In a statement, the OHSA urged continued caution when carrying out outdoor work, particularly on construction sites and in areas close to the sea.
The Authority warned that strong winds may cause damage to workplaces and stressed the importance of inspections by project supervisors and health and safety professionals to address any potential risks immediately.
Employers and workers were reminded to avoid working at heights, secure loose materials and equipment, exercise caution near unstable structures, and ensure cranes are left free to slew when unattended.
Meanwhile, the BCA echoed these concerns, appealing to contractors and site operators to take all necessary precautions to protect workers, the public, and third-party property. The Authority also reminded that no construction work is permitted during the warning period, except for emergency works to remove imminent dangers.
If employers, project supervisors, or even employees require any further assistance or information, they’re inquired to call the helpline on 138.
