After six consecutive years of sell-out concerts in Malta, BBC Radio 2 and the BBC Concert Orchestra will return to the island with what is being described as their biggest headline concert in the country to date.

For the seventh edition of the BBC Concert in Malta, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy a unique one-night spectacle celebrating the music of two legendary groups, ABBA and the Bee Gees, at the Floriana Granaries.

The concert, taking place on Saturday 4 July, will be presented by renowned British television personality Rylan Clark and will bring together more than 70 internationally acclaimed musicians from the BBC Concert Orchestra, alongside some of the finest vocalists and local singer Kevin Paul Calleja.

Featuring a repertoire packed with timeless hits, the evening promises a high-quality musical experience and entertainment for the whole family.

Tourism Minister Jo Etienne Abela said that international events of this calibre form an important part of the Government’s vision to further diversify Malta’s tourism product and strengthen the country’s position as a destination offering quality experiences throughout the year.

He added that, following an agreement reached, the Gozo Fast Ferry service will continue operating after the concert so that Gozitan attendees can enjoy the event until the very end.

Dr Abela said the BBC Concert Orchestra’s decision to return to Malta is a clear sign of confidence in the country’s ability to host productions of international standing.

He added that the concert not only offers a unique experience for Maltese audiences and visitors, but also generates economic activity and enhances Malta’s profile on the international events scene.

Meanwhile, Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Charles Mangion said the authority is proud to celebrate the seventh edition of the BBC Concert Orchestra in Malta, adding that the ongoing collaboration between the MTA and the BBC reflects strong confidence in Malta as a destination capable of successfully hosting world-class productions.
