Baden Powell Scouts Malta Celebrate 15 Years of Service and Volunteering

The Baden Powell Scouts Malta have marked their 15th anniversary with the opening of a special exhibition in Mdina, celebrating a decade and a half of commitment to scouting, volunteering and community service under the theme “15 Years, One Promise.”
The official opening was attended by Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia, who praised the organisation’s contribution to society and highlighted the importance of volunteering in building stronger and more inclusive communities.
The anniversary celebrations, supported through the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS) of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS), will continue throughout the year with a programme of activities promoting traditional scouting values, active citizenship and community involvement.
Planned initiatives include community service projects, international camps, leadership workshops and the planting of indigenous trees in various locations across Malta.
During the ceremony, Minister Farrugia described the Baden Powell Scouts Malta as an example of how volunteering can positively transform lives while strengthening communities.
“Scouting is a school of life that teaches values, discipline, leadership and respect towards others,” she said, adding that investment in voluntary organisations is an investment in the future of society.
Chief Scout of Baden Powell Scouts Malta, Nathalie Fsadni, said the anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s journey and the positive impact it has had on hundreds of young people.
She highlighted several milestones from the commemorative year, including a Founder's Day pilgrimage, a national Camporee featuring a “Wall of Memories”, and the recognition of leaders who have provided exceptional service.
The anniversary programme will continue throughout the year with further community, environmental and training initiatives aimed at inspiring future generations of young people to embrace strong values and a commitment to helping others.
