Author Trevor Zahra Pays Tribute To Late Ġorġ Mallia

Renowned Maltese author Trevor Zahra posted a tribute in honour of the late author, cartoonist and academic Ġorġ Mallia, whom Zahra described as one of his greatest and dearest friends.

‘My friend, you were always there to bid farewell to those who cast off and set sail. You honoured them through your gentle art. But today, who will draw you’, he asked.

‘I wish it could be me, but my hand trembles and my heart is far too heavy. Even if, through my grief, I managed to create your portrait, I could never capture your kindness, your gentleness, your enthusiasm, or the heart of a child that you never hesitated to reveal and embrace.’

‘With bowed heads, we say goodbye to you. But on the other shore, many will be waiting to welcome you. Keep drawing cartoons of the angels, my friend. Keep bringing them joy and lifting their spirits, because even heaven needs your smile.’
