Author Of ‘Puttinu & Toninu’ Philip Farrugia Randon Passes Away

Renowned author, artist, and philanthropist Philip Farrugia Randon has died at the age of 76. A lawyer by profession, Farrugia Randon enjoyed a distinguished career that spanned literature, art, broadcasting, and public service.
He graduated as a notary in 1972 and as a lawyer in 1973, while also working in radio and television.
An accomplished water-colourist and art scholar, he wrote extensively on artists such as Caravaggio and J.M.W. Turner.
His best-known publications include Caravaggio in Malta, Caravaggio – Knight of Malta, and Turner’s Malta Watercolours. He was also a published poet and a long-time contributor to the Times of Malta.
He created the character Puttinu for a children’s book, which inspired the charitable organisation Puttinu Cares.
The foundation said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Philip Farrugia Randon, author of the book Puttinu and Toninu.”
“We will forever remain grateful for his generosity in allowing us to use the name of his book for our foundation. His kindness and legacy will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our sincere condolences go to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace Philip.”
