Arts Council Malta Launches 2030 Strategy to Strengthen Cultural Sector

Arts Council Malta has officially launched its Strategy 2030 during an event attended by cultural stakeholders, artists, practitioners, and representatives from Malta’s creative sectors.
The new strategy sets out the Council’s direction for the coming years, providing a structured and practical framework to address the current realities and challenges faced by the cultural and creative industries. It aims to create stronger conditions for artists and organisations to grow sustainably while adapting to evolving technologies, audiences, and forms of expression.
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici emphasised that the strategy reflects the Government’s commitment to placing culture and the arts at the centre of Malta’s long-term development. He highlighted the importance of supporting a sector that contributes to education, innovation, and community well-being, in line with the Malta 2050 Vision.
Executive Chairman of Arts Council Malta, Luke Dalli, described the strategy as a decisive step towards a more sustainable, inclusive, and internationally connected cultural ecosystem. He noted that creativity plays a central role in shaping Malta’s identity and economy, and should remain accessible to all.
The strategy is built on three main pillars: professional development, cultural rights, and internationalisation. It is supported by 55 action points, alongside detailed roadmaps and monitoring structures to ensure transparency and continuous evaluation.
Ultimately, Strategy 2030 aims to foster a thriving cultural environment where artists and communities can grow, collaborate, and position Malta confidently on the international stage.
