Armed Forces Respond To Fireworks Factory Explosion In Naxxar

The Armed Forces of Malta personnel responded to the fireworks factory explosion in Naxxar this morning.
Specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Section of the 3rd Regiment, together with operations from D Company, 1st Regiment, were deployed to the scene.
In coordination with other government entities, the area was secured and cordoned off to enable EOD personnel to conduct operations to render the site safe and to establish the cause of the incident.
‘The area remains hazardous at this time. The public is strongly urged to avoid the vicinity and to strictly adhere to all instructions issued by the relevant authorities and emergency services.’
