April 2025 Marks Record Number Of Influencers Registered In Malta

During a parliamentary session, Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Labour, Byron Camilleri, responded to questions regarding the number of individuals registered as influencers and content creators with Jobsplus from 2020 to the present, providing a year-by-year breakdown.

According to the data, at the end of December 2020, there were 3 influencers and 29 content creators registered. By the end of 2021, the numbers were 2 influencers and 25 content creators. The following years saw steady growth: 3 influencers and 50 content creators in 2022, 5 influencers and 65 content creators in 2023, and 11 influencers with 81 content creators by the end of 2024. As of April 2025, the figures reached 13 influencers and 86 content creators.

In recent years, unconventional careers like content creators or influencers have grown in popularity. But what does this role really mean? A content creator produces and shares material online, while an influencer uses their platform to shape opinions and trends.
