Apple has unveiled a new MacBook Pro lineup featuring its PROLED XDR display, marking the arrival of touchscreen capabilities on the Mac for the first time. The new laptops also introduce upgraded chips, improved battery life and a thinner, lighter design, targeting professionals working in photography, video editing, design and other demanding creative fields.

Available in 14-inch and 16-inch models, the new MacBook Pro features tandem OLED technology designed to deliver improved brightness, contrast and colour accuracy. The display offers peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits and a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, alongside adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

The touchscreen introduces a new way for users to interact with their work, allowing them to draw, paint, manipulate designs and edit video directly on the display. Apple has also introduced Dynamic Island to the Mac, bringing features including Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI into a new interface.

The new laptops are powered by Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are designed to handle demanding workloads and AI applications. Storage can be configured up to 16TB, while the devices support up to 128GB of unified memory. Other features include a 12MP Center Stage camera, an enhanced six-speaker sound system, three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI and an SDXC card slot.

Apple says the redesigned MacBook Pro offers up to 24 hours of battery life, alongside fast charging that can restore up to 50% of the battery in 30 minutes. The laptops also run macOS 27, which introduces further Apple Intelligence features and an updated Siri AI experience.

Pre-orders opened on October 28, with the new MacBook Pro expected to become available from November 6. Prices start at $2,899 for the 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip, while the 16-inch version starts at $3,399.
