Another Hot & Sunny Weekend Ahead: Yellow Warning Still In Force

Malta is set for another hot and largely sunny weekend, with a yellow weather warning for high temperatures in force on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the Malta Meteorological Office, Friday will begin with partly cloudy skies before becoming mainly sunny in the afternoon, with settled weather expected to continue throughout the weekend.

Maximum temperatures are forecast to reach 32°C on Friday, rising to 33°C on both Saturday and Sunday.

However, the "feels like" temperature is expected to climb to around 34°C on Friday, 36°C on Saturday and as high as 37°C on Sunday. Overnight temperatures will remain warm at approximately 25°C.

The forecast temperatures are well above the seasonal averages of 28.6°C during the day and 21.2°C at night. Sea temperatures are also unusually high at around 31°C, approximately 5°C warmer than is typical for early September.

Light winds will initially blow from the east-northeast on Friday before shifting to the northwest later in the day, remaining predominantly northwesterly throughout the weekend.

Beach conditions are expected to remain generally favourable, particularly in sheltered bays. Beaches protected from the east-northeasterly wind are likely to offer the best conditions on Friday morning, while those sheltered from the northwest should be more comfortable from Friday afternoon onwards and throughout the weekend.

Although swimming conditions are expected to remain pleasant, beachgoers are being advised to protect themselves from the strong sunshine and high temperatures.
