Animal Welfare Crack Down On Severe Animal Neglect Case

The Animal Welfare Directorate has launched legal proceedings against an individual following the discovery of a severe case of animal neglect involving a large number of budgies and pigeons.

During an inspection carried out yesterday, officers found the birds living in extremely poor conditions.

The animals were reportedly being kept in an unsuitable environment, with many already dead by the time authorities arrived on site.

The surviving birds were immediately confiscated and transferred to a safe location, where they are now receiving the care and attention they require.

In a statement, the Animal Welfare Directorate described the situation as heartbreaking and confirmed that the person responsible will be charged in court for animal cruelty.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Environmental Health Directorate, whose assistance helped authorities intervene and provide aid to animals found in distress.

Investigations into the case are ongoing, while efforts continue to ensure the welfare of the rescued birds.
