‘An Accident Site Is Not Your Playground’ Says Emergency Doctor
Local

Taking to social media, emergency doctor Michael Spiteri urged for more awareness from bystanders who seemingly think it’s ok to stroll past barrier tape to film and interfere.

‘Let’s make this painfully clear – an accident site is NOT your playground’, he wrote.

‘Meanwhile, we’re fighting to keep someone alive. We’re working seconds from death — not for fun,but because that’s our job.’

He urged bystanders to ask themselves if they’re the one bleeding out, whether they’d want to be undressed in front of a crowd or if trauma looks cool.

If the answer is no, Spiteri encouraged people to be more mindful and step out of the way.

‘If you think you can do better – take our place. We’ll pack our gear, step aside, and leave you to deal with the screaming, the bleeding and the dying – all while other people like you get in your way.’

‘We are not here for your entertainment. We’re not your drama fix. We are here to save lives — and your presence makes that harder.’
