Local

Malta experienced a very wet start to November, with heavy rainfall causing flooding in several areas across the country.

Saturday's rainfall brought thunderstorms and intense showers to several localities, with popular weather page It-Temp Madwarna reporting that an isolated thunderstorm affected around 90% of the country.

Siġġiewi was among the hardest-hit localities, recording an impressive 30mm of rainfall.

The heavy downpours also resulted in flooding in several areas, with roads affected by significant amounts of rainwater.

The wet weather continued into Sunday morning, 1st November, with more showers affecting different parts of the Maltese Islands.

According to popular social media page Maltese Islands Weather, rainfall on Sunday morning ranged from just a trace in some areas to almost an inch (approximately 25mm) in others.

However, conditions are expected to improve somewhat throughout Sunday, with skies gradually clearing and partly to variably cloudy weather expected, although isolated showers remain possible.

Looking ahead, Monday is expected to bring strong winds and possible thundery showers, while Tuesday could see gusts reaching Force 7.

Wednesday is forecast to offer a brief break with partly cloudy skies, before more rain and showers return between Thursday and Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to remain around 20°C to 21°C throughout the week, as November begins on a particularly wet note.
