The Malta Arts Council, under the patronage of the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, has announced the winners of the Arts Awards 2025, celebrating another significant step forward for the cultural sector.

This year’s edition marked a major milestone as it reached a record 600 nominations, the highest number since the Awards were first established.

Winners were chosen across 14 competitive categories, while seven honorary titles were awarded to individuals and organisations whose long-term dedication has contributed to the evolution of Malta’s cultural identity.

Four categories also included a public vote, which drew 2,100 votes, highlighting the growing interest and participation of audiences in the Awards process.

Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici praised the diversity and quality of the nominations. He noted that the 2025 edition is the largest held so far and demonstrates how Malta’s artistic ecosystem is expanding and becoming increasingly inclusive.

This, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to broaden cultural access and create opportunities across all regions of the country. He added that ongoing work will continue to follow the long-term cultural vision outlined in Vision Malta 2050, which seeks to strengthen support structures for artists, cultural organisations and creative practitioners.

Luke Dalli, Executive Chairperson of the Malta Arts Council, emphasised the importance of the Awards in raising professional standards within the sector.
