All New Redesigned Ta’ Qali National Stadium Revealed

The first images of the redesigned Ta’ Qali National Stadium have been revealed, and it’s clear that Maltese football is in for a big upgrade.
The project, called the “City of Football”, will turn the area into a major sports hub. It won’t just focus on football, but will also include facilities for futsal and beach soccer, making it a central space for the sport in Malta.
Central to the redevelopment is a brand-new, modern National Stadium, alongside upgrades to the nearby Centenary Stadium. The latter will see its capacity increased, while a dedicated futsal complex will be integrated within the south stand of the main stadium.
All four stands, the North, South, West, and Millennium, will undergo demolition and reconstruction. Once completed, the stadium will have a reduced capacity of around 12,000, nearly 5,000 fewer seats than its current size, but with significantly improved facilities and infrastructure.
In addition, a separate 2,000-capacity stadium with an artificial pitch will be constructed, along with a dedicated beach soccer facility within the training complex.
The project goes beyond sport too. Plans include a sports hotel and a new area with shops, recreational spaces, and public areas. These will be linked with the Centenary Stadium, especially through the redevelopment of the North Stand.
The stadium will also be able to host concerts and large events, not just football matches whilst the surrounding Ta’ Qali area will also be improved, with better roads and upgrades to the western parking area, helping to create a more modern and accessible space overall.
