All New Bus Routes and Improved Services Strengthen Connectivity Across Malta
Local

Public transport users across Malta are set to benefit from a series of new bus routes and service improvements aimed at making daily travel more convenient, efficient, and accessible for everyone.

The newly introduced and enhanced services — Routes 88, 95, 135, 191 and 406 — will provide stronger links between key residential areas, commercial hubs, educational institutions and healthcare centres, while improving access to important transport connections including the Buġibba Fast Ferry Terminal and Malta International Airport.

Route 88 will offer a direct connection between Valletta and Malta International Airport, passing through Ħamrun, Marsa, Paola, Tarxien, Żejtun, Għaxaq and Gudja. The service is expected to improve travel options for commuters and airport passengers alike.

Meanwhile, Route 95 will strengthen links between Valletta, Paola and Fgura, providing an additional transport option for residents travelling to and from the capital and the southern harbour area.

A major boost for cross-island connectivity comes through Route 135, which will connect Marsaskala to Mater Dei Hospital and the University of Malta, passing through Żejtun, Għaxaq, Gudja, Luqa, Farruġ, St Vincent de Paul and Swatar. The route is expected to be particularly beneficial for students, healthcare workers and patients requiring easier access to key institutions.

For residents within Marsaskala, Route 191 will improve local mobility by serving various stops around the locality, making internal travel simpler and more accessible.

In the north, Route 406 will enhance connectivity between Qawra, San Pawl il-Baħar and Buġibba, while also linking passengers directly to the Buġibba Fast Ferry Terminal, offering smoother transfers for those commuting between Malta and Gozo.

These service upgrades form part of ongoing efforts to improve Malta’s public transport network by offering more efficient routes, reducing travel times and strengthening accessibility between communities across the island.
