Alicia Bugeja Said Meets Incoming Commissioner For Animal Welfare

Alicia Bugeja Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, has welcomed Dr Fleur Abela, who will soon assume the role of Commissioner for the Proper Treatment of Animals.
This morning, the two held a meeting to discuss the ongoing efforts to promote animal welfare across Malta. Bugeja Said highlighted Dr Abela’s strong legal background and her evident passion for animals, expressing confidence that together they can continue advancing initiatives that benefit all creatures.
“I have no doubt that Fleur will bring the same positive energy she showed during our meeting into her new role, ensuring the work continues effectively,” Bugeja Said stated.
She also paid tribute to outgoing Commissioner Alison Bezzina, acknowledging the significant contributions made over the past five years. “I thank Alison for her dedication and wish her all the best for the future,” Bugeja Said added, emphasising the importance of building upon the solid foundation laid by her predecessor.
