Alex Borg wants PN & PL To agree On A Long-Term Mass Transportation Plan

During a political event in front of the PN Headquarters on Sunday, Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg called for a cross-party, long-term transport plan to be agreed upon between the Government and the Opposition. He said that major projects like a mass transit system take years to complete and should not depend on which party is in power. Borg emphasised that Malta needs continuity and collaboration to truly solve its traffic crisis.
In his speech, titled “Filled with Courage, Let Us Keep Believing – Because We Can Make It,” Borg said the PN must continue working hard as it becomes “the credible alternative government Malta needs.” He urged party members to remain united and focused, saying that recent surveys show people are starting to view the PN differently as capable of leading the country forward.
Borg also addressed several key national issues:
Population growth: He criticised the Government for building the economy on cheap imported labour, leading to strain on hospitals and essential services.
Justice system: He expressed confidence in the judiciary but called for more judges, staff, and space to make the Courts more efficient.
Valletta’s future: He warned that Malta’s capital is losing its residents and identity, urging for policies that balance tourism with residents’ needs.
Renewed enthusiasm within the PN: Borg highlighted the energy among grassroots members and announced plans to meet each committee personally to strengthen connections with the people.
PN Secretary General Charles Bonello also spoke at the event, praising the strong participation in recent regional meetings and encouraging continued unity. He said the latest survey results show that the PN is gaining ground and must keep believing that victory is possible — not just for the party, but for the country.
