Alex Borg To Give Up Seat In District 12, Retaining Gozo Seat

Following the results of last week’s general election, the Nationalist Party have confirmed which seats MPs elected in two districts will be vacating.
Alex Borg will be giving up his seat in District 12, instead painting his position as MP on behalf of District 13, Gozo.
Many were speculating that Borg would lose the 13th district, as the party’sstatue states that MPs who contested in more than one district must give up the district where they received the least amount of first-count votes, calculated in percentage to the district quota.
Despite this, Borg maintained his hold on Gozo.
Stephen Spiteri, elected from the 2nd and 3rd districts, will give up his seat in the 3rd District, while Mark Anthony Sammut, elected from the 4th and 10th districts, will vacate his 10th District seat.
Conrad Borg Manché, who was elected from the 5th and 10th districts, will relinquish his seat in the 5th District. Adrian Delia, elected from the 7th and 8th districts, will give up his seat in the 7th District, as will Rebekah Borg, who was elected from the 7th and 11th districts.
Meanwhile, Joe Giglio, elected from the 9th and 10th districts, will vacate his seat in the 10th District.
PN stated that these decisions “clear the road for the carrying out of casual elections in these districts that were given up.”
