Alex Borg Submits Declaration Of Interest In PN Leadership Race

The Electoral, Records and Data Commission of the Partit Nazzjonalista has confirmed that it has received a declaration of interest for the post of party leader from Alex Borg.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 25 June 2026 at 12pm, the Commission said it had formally received Borg’s expression of interest as the process to elect a new PN leader officially gets underway.

The Commission reminded that, in line with Article 90a of the party statute, the call for expressions of interest will remain open for seven days, closing on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at 6pm. The process was launched following the PN General Council’s decision to open the election for the party’s leadership.

It also clarified that only members of the Partit Nazzjonalista who are fully paid-up, in accordance with the party’s statute, are eligible to contest the leadership position.

The Commission added that it will continue to publish the names of all individuals who submit their interest, with each declaration to be communicated publicly through separate media statements as they are received.

The leadership contest marks the beginning of a formal internal process that will determine who will lead the Nationalist Party into its next political chapter.
