Alex Borg Says Government Is Creating Divisions Between Employers And Workers

Leader of the Opposition and Partit Nazzjonalista leader Alex Borg has criticised the Government’s 2027 Budget plans, saying they are creating divisions between employers and workers. He said that PN believes in a different approach that aims to bring people together.

Speaking at a press conference following his reply to the Budget, Borg argued that Malta needs to move away from relying on population growth, and instead focus on investing in workers’ skills and new economic endeavours.

He specified that economic growth should come from new areas of economic activity that add value to the country while also improving residents’ quality of life.

Shadow Minister for Finance Adrian Delia also criticised the Budget for its outdated policies, arguing that the Government is relying on population growth to improve the economy, rather than exploring new potential areas of growth.
