ALEX BORG PROPOSES 30% CUT IN HOUSEHOLD ELECTRICITY BILLS AT BORMLA RALLY

PN leader Alex Borg addressed a mass rally in Bormla where he unveiled a wide-ranging electoral programme focused on cost of living relief, healthcare reform, and long-term social investment ahead of the 2026 General Election.
A key proposal announced was an average 30 percent reduction in household electricity bills. Borg said this measure would be financed through the retention of existing energy subsidies, aiming to directly ease pressure on families facing rising living costs.
On healthcare, Borg outlined plans for a national network of modern hospitals, including a new 250-bed hospital in North Malta, a 400-bed hospital in Gozo, and the conversion of the Paola Hub into a 250-bed hospital. Additional investment would be directed towards Mater Dei Hospital and the creation of a National Health Park with 60 beds.
Other proposals include a 25 percent increase in student stipends, up to €1,000 per month for healthcare students, and a five-year 0 percent tax incentive for Maltese healthcare professionals returning from abroad. The PN also pledged no tax on the first €10,000 earned from part-time or overtime work and a €5,000 Child Trust Fund for every child.
Borg also highlighted over 110 proposals dedicated to Gozo and presented a renewed slate of candidates combining experience with youth.
During his speech, he criticised the government over cost of living pressures and alleged misuse of state resources, while appealing to Labour supporters and non-voters to support change.
