Alex Borg Promises 25% Stipend Increase For All Students

PN Leader Alex Borg has announced that a Nationalist government would increase stipends for all students in Malta and Gozo by 25%, as part of a wider package of education and workforce measures.
Addressing supporters during the same political event, Borg said the proposal is intended to ease financial pressures on students while encouraging more young people to continue their studies and pursue careers in key sectors.
He added that healthcare students would benefit further, with stipends set to rise to at least the level of the minimum wage, in a move aimed at addressing staff shortages and making the profession more attractive.
Borg also pointed to the Nationalist Party’s track record in government, stating that new schools were built almost every year, reflecting what he described as a long-standing commitment to education and investment in future generations.
While no specific timelines were outlined for new projects, he said the party remains focused on improving both educational infrastructure and student support.
The proposals form part of a broader vision to strengthen Malta’s education system while linking it more closely to the country’s workforce needs, particularly in sectors such as healthcare where demand continues to grow.
