Alex Borg Outlines PN Ideas For Gozo

During the debate on the 2026 Budget Estimates for the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg outlined a comprehensive vision for Gozo, emphasising the need for sustainable development, improved services, and a higher quality of life for Gozitans.
Borg criticised the Labour Government for failing to deliver on repeated promises, highlighting projects such as the new 430-bed hospital, Marsalforn breakwater, MCAST expansion, and the new Court, which has been delayed for over 13 years.
The PN Leader proposed a series of concrete measures to address long-standing issues.
These include introducing new vessels and reliable connectivity supported by a reform of Mġarr Port, upgrading infrastructure from Mġarr onwards, and creating a clear plan for a new hospital with established deadlines.
He also emphasised the need for a University campus offering creative and sustainable courses, and the Innovation Hub to foster SMEs in sectors such as FinTech and MedTech.
Borg highlighted the importance of an integrated traffic-management plan for Victoria, accessible social and medical services, and the establishment of a Gozo Tourism Authority alongside an ITS for small-scale and high-quality tourism.
On planning and the environment, Borg called for a modern, efficient Planning Authority that reduces bureaucracy and prioritises quality development.
He proposed introducing schemes to reward high-standard projects, including fast-tracking approvals, tax incentives, and access to green financing.
He stressed that development must strengthen localities while safeguarding the environment, ensuring that growth and sustainability advance together.
