The Leader of Partit Nazzjonalista, Alex Borg, outlined key priorities for families, businesses, and economic growth in an interview conducted in Żurrieq by Net News Head of News Robert Cremona.

Borg emphasised that a Nationalist Government would provide support to families and couples through measures such as the Child Trust Fund, which would provide €5,000 for every new child, and indicated that the possibility of a four-day work week is also under consideration.

He also discussed the party’s plan to reduce VAT for restaurants and catering establishments from 18% to 7%, saying the measure would benefit approximately 3,000 families in the sector and contribute to Malta’s economy. Borg said a Nationalist Government would implement the VAT reduction within its first 100 days.

On economic growth, Borg stated that the party aims to build on recent successes while creating opportunities for young people and supporting initiatives such as a mass transport project, for which he has sought European Union backing during a recent visit to Brussels.

Borg contrasted his approach to governance with that of the current Labour Government, led by Robert Abela, highlighting transparency and accountability as priorities for a Nationalist administration. He also mentioned Gozo, stating that Nationalist governments have historically delivered investments on the island and promised to continue supporting its development.

On the possibility of an early election, Borg said the Partit Nazzjonalista is ready to deliver on its commitments whenever an election is called. He also questioned the credibility of the current Government in areas including the environment, healthcare, and transport.

The interview began with Borg congratulating Jasmine on winning Mużika Mużika 2026 and acknowledging the work of all participants, praising Maltese artists for their talent. The session was opened and closed by Charmaine Parnis.
