Alex Borg Calls For Urgent MCESD Meeting To Address Power Cuts Across Malta

Opposition leader Alex Borg has officially called for an urgent meeting with the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development in order to seriously address the electricity crisis currently happening in Malta.

In a post on his social media, Borg wrote, “When thousands of families and businesses end up without light, when vulnerable people suffer and when businesses financially lose out, we cannot continue pretending everything is moving as it should.”

Alex Borg emphasised that the country deserves answers, but also action and a clear plan for the future.

Localities across Malta and Gozo have been hit by intense power cuts, with some places going days without electricity, or experiencing several power cuts in one day.

As temperatures in Malta continue to sore, a greater demand is placed on the country’s network, causing these power cuts.

Borg pledged that the Nationalist party will continue doing its part “with a sense of responsibility”.
