Alex Agius Saliba Ranks 4th Most Influential MEP In EP

Member of the European Parliament and Vice-President of the Socialists and Democrats, Alex Agius Saliba, has been recognised as one of the most influential MEPs in the European Parliament according to the Burson agency publication EU Influence Index 2025.

He was ranked fourth overall, the highest-ranking Maltese MEP, and the leading figure within the Socialists and Democrats Group.

The study by Burson assessed influence based on several criteria. These included an MEP’s role in shaping the parliamentary agenda and decision-making, their leadership style and coordination within their political group and office, as well as their level of involvement in portfolios and participation in key activities.

Legislative drafting and the implementation of policies across European countries were also considered, alongside political experience and representation in the European Parliament.

The ranking examined in detail the contributions of MEPs over the past year, highlighting those who have delivered significant work and shown dedication to their responsibilities.

Reacting to the recognition, Alex Agius Saliba said that the result “fills me with energy and determination to continue working to improve the quality of life and working conditions of European citizens, especially the Maltese and Gozitans.”
