Alan Xuereb Declared Champion At Traditional Xlendi Ġostra

The traditional ġostra took over Gozo’s Xlendi, with daring individuals attempting to run across the greasy pole to grab the little flag.

The game is a traditional Maltese activity, with roots going back to the Knights of St John. The name comes from the Italian word giostra, meaning competitive game or contest.
