Airline Allows Women To Choose Not To Sit Near Men On Flights

A low-cost Indian airline has gone viral for becoming the first airline to give women the option to choose not to sit next to men on flights.

Starting from August, Indigo will give female travelers the ability to see where other women are sitting on the flight, with their seats being displayed in pink. Men will not be given the same information and will only see available seats.

“IndiGo is proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers,” a representative said.⁠

IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost airline, will implement changes on all its flights starting August 2024. The airline operates 2,000 domestic and international flights daily.

The decision was brought about by a poll issued by Indigo, which asked females what would make their travel comfortable.
