AFM Safely Detonate British Army Wartime Hand Grenade Found During Excavations

The Armed Forces of Malta Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Platoon within the 3rd Regiment was alerted to the discovery of a British Army wartime Mills Type hand grenade yesterday.
The explosive was uncovered during excavation works. This morning, the EOD personnel safely carried out controlled on-site disposal after the area was secured by the Malta Police Force.
The AFM warn people that if such explosives are discovered they are not to touch it. They should take photos only if it remains undisturbed and call 112 immediately.
